Early life
Sarah grew up in the streets of Durdahal, one of the five cities of the Grym Empire. Born out of a poor family, she learned the ways of stealing, running and deceiving fairly early, thanks to her father as well. After her mother dies because of the Plague, her father is captured by the Empire and sentenced to death. Mind you that he was killed just because of stealing small amounts of money to some politicians and knights. All on her own, Sarah created a talent for finding precious artifacts, but her bloodlust grew stronger and she ended up killing a very important politician in Durdahal. After that, the bounty of 50 silver pieces excited her. It was like she was achieving where her father failed: screwing the system, and there was no bigger system than the Empire. After the news started calling this thief/assassin the Daggerhand, some Commanders of Grym were called to the city to protect their nobilities.
Adult life
While growing up, Sarah developed a taste for bringing some treasure with her from her missions. She also enlisted as a paid mercenary for most of the thieves' guilds spread across the Empire of Grym, gaining more and more on her bounty as the years passed by, with a lot of travelling done every week. She was nice to merchants and always tried to be fair while dealing in the markets, but she would become the nobility's and rich worse nightmare. Money, fame and power are features that Sarah liked in every one of her marks. One day, she heard of a task being posted back in her hometown regarding items of value found in temple ruins nearby. They were going to be kept in the main safe in the city, guarded by the Royal Guard of Grym themselves. Sarah jumped the opportunity to go and find these items, and took on the job, but she did not knew who posted it. After an easy infiltration, with some casualties, she cracked the safe easily. In there she found three items: a beautiful gray dagger, a book and a manuscript. No gold, no jewels, just that. Without even thinking, she picked up the three items, only to be surrounded by 20 guards. Thinking that her life as a thief was over, she suddenly heard a voice coming from the dagger, in her mind.
I can help you, Sarah. But I need your help as well. Throw a smoke bomb and stay still. They will never find you.
After doing what the strange dagger told her, the soldiers were panicking and stumbled one upon the other in the cloud of smoke that covered all of the safe. A sudden surge of bloodlust ran over Sarah's dagger as she slashed every guard's throat like it was nothing. With the alarms setting off quickly, she ran from the city in a stolen horse and ran South to a port city. Hiding in the inn, Sarah found out that there was a presence within the dagger called Nyx. It was shy sharing the details, but it identified itself as a deity of the Old World that left imbued magic within the blade that had killed him. Sarah sensed the bloodlust but could not find malice in its words. There was much to know and understand about that dagger. After looking at the book and the manuscript, Sarah found something even more interesting. The book belonged to Aumar, a legend for magic practicioners. The book had many codes and information that were beyond Sarah's understanding, but the manuscript looked like a normal letter. It was an old guild job post, similar to the one's that she had accepted back in Durdahal. In fact, even both job posts had the same mysterious illegible signature. The same person that wrote that ancient job post, sent her to retrieve those items. The old job post was very clear:
Find ME
So Sarah had an issue: she needed this person to pay for the job post, and for the risk she took. At the same time, the mysterious dagger could be of use if you jsut learn its ways and what is the source of her power. Perhaps you could avenge your parents, perhaps you could be... better.
